Winter Safety for Contractors

We’ve all probably heard a devastating story about construction works in the winter, perhaps a contractor slipping and falling or a vital piece of equipment breaking, and we feel safety should be prioritised with any contractor building work during winter.

Cold weathers, and sever winds which have been damaging many areas of the UK of late are all big dangers, for any individuals working outside. If you’re a building business owner, with members of staff undertaking construction work during the winter, make sure they’re safe. Any work done should be carefully considered, and if weather conditions are severe, you or a delegated manager should be keeping an eye on walkways, platforms, scaffolds, stairs and ladders. Ice and snow should be removed before work begins and warm clothing should be provided.

A lot of health and safety often boils down to common sense, and if you’re a contractor just make sure you’re taking care of yourself, and always keeping a watch on any hazards.
