We always want to protect our homes and property, whether industrial or commercial. Security products are therefore vital items in the premises of property or business owners. These products help in keeping cases of vandalism, theft and burglary at bay. A very good example of a security product is the security shutters.
A security shutter is a kind of window or door shutter with numerous horizontal slats, bars or web systems that have been hinged together. The door is raised to open and lowered to close. In many premises with huge doors, the action of raising and lowering the door or window is motorized. These security shutters are meant for protection against bad weather as well as vandalism and burglary attempts.
The shutters have a number of applications which includes doors for garages, vans and other vehicles, kitchens, prisons, schools and warehouses. They come in various designs and operation modes.
1. Built on shutter doors
In this type of security shutter, the roller shutter box is mounted or fixed to the outer side of the building facade.
2. Built in shutter doors
This is a type where the shutter box is constructed into the lintel right above the window.
3. Integrated roller shutter
The integrated roller shutter is the type that has the window and the roller shutter combined into one unit.
4. Security shutters with tilted laths
This type has laths that are tilting like in an external venetian blind.
5. Manual shutters
These shutters have a gear drive that is traced from the shutter roller through the façade of the building to a joint universal on the room side which is operated using a window handle that is cranked.
6. Electric shutters
Automatic operation may be added on the electric shutters. They have tubular motors that are fitted within the rollers.
7. Fire shutters
Fire shutters are either manual or electric security shutters that use woods metal as well as weight bars to shut the roller shutters. They can also be joined to a Fire Alarm System to shut automatically in case the fire alarm is activated.
Have various components:
· The lath
· The roller
· Shutter box
· Shutter spring
· Guide rail
The lath is either single or multi wall and is made of steel, aluminium or PVC extrusion. Rubber tubes may be added so as to minimize draught. The roller may also be a steel or aluminium tube that is supported at either terminal using an end plate. The shutter box is designed to give protection to the roller assembly and is formed from aluminium or steel extrusions. The shutter spring comes in two designs. It can be made from the spring wire, also referred to as torsion spring or can be a flat spring formed by tempered and hardened strips of steel in coils. On the guide rails, rubbing strips can be added in order to reduce rattling. The rails are made specifically of steel so as to retain the shutter curtain.
Security in our property will give you a peace of mind since you will have succeeded in protecting those things that matter to you most. Choosing a security item should be in relation with what is most suitable for your property.
