2 Different Ways To Remove Rust From Metalwork

Have you found a spot of rust which you need to get rid of? Don’t wait too long to get rid of it, as this will damage the metal even more. Find out our two favourite ways to remove rust and see what works for you.

Lemon – Why spend unnecessary amounts of money on an expensive spray which may remove rust, when you can test out a lemon first? First rub some salt onto the rust and once it’s fully coated, squeeze lemon juice onto the area. Let it soak for three hours and then use a scourer to scrub it off. Be careful when scrubbing and avoid damaging the metal anymore.

Vinegar – Another great way to remove rust, but preferably for smaller items like screws. You can put the screws inside a bottle and fill it with white vinegar. Let it soak for 24 hours and then pour the vinegar out of the bottle. You should find that the screws are much shiner and hopefully free from rust.
