NVQ are the most recognised qualification within the construction industry. Hiring companies often base their recruitment around those they interview with an NVQ. The reason for this is that an NVQ is a skill-based qualification, so an employer knows if you have passed an NVQ, you have a specific set of skills.
An NVQ is completed whilst on the job, so you are learning your trade whilst studying and being paid. You don’t need any formal education to apply for an NVQ as they are based on your skills and understand of the job itself.
NVQs in construction range from Level 2 up to Level 7 and depend on your management level and your job role. You will be assessed onsite by a designated assessment officer as well as submitting your evidence (proof you can undertake a particular skill) online.
